Progress, not perfection.
After almost 2 decades in the mental health field, Amy Silver brings deep knowledge to her work. Here’s what she has to say:
Therapy is about progress not perfection. There’s no such thing as perfection in a person.
I offer a relaxed, nonjudgmental environment where we can get comfortable and set the stage for progress.
My biggest strength as a therapist is my ability to develop rapport. I believe in the healing power of humor to help form connections and normalize the human experience.
I’m no-nonsense as well as nurturing. I’ll help you recognize your strengths and determine how they can be used more effectively. I have a lot of experience with teens and a strong aptitude for working with them. Whoever you are, together we’ll determine what progress looks like for you and then work together to achieve it.
LOCATIONS SERVED
Most often I work with those in the northern Chicago suburbs including Deerfield, Northbrook, Glenview, Highland Park, and Lake Forest.
In all, I serve those from Chicago to the broader Gurnee area and I’m licensed to practice telehealth anywhere in Illinois.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Before starting my practice in 2015, I worked in a private educational setting on the North Shore for nine years. There I served students with learning disabilities, ADHD, speech and language disorders, spectrum disorders, and emotional and behavioral issues.
I obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago in 2002, with a concentration in school social work and a focus on family systems. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) and I maintain my School Social Worker licensing.
When I’m not working, I love road trips and spending time in nature especially near water. I also love reading, creating mosaics, and playing “interior designer” for my friends. Most of all, I’m crazy about animals and a devoted Mom to Lilly and Dooley, pictured here.
EXPLORING WORKING TOGETHER
Research shows that a positive relationship with your therapist is key to personal growth. I encourage you to find a therapist who is a good fit for you, whether that’s me or someone else.
