Life is a journey — sometimes an easier one than others. When it’s difficult or confusing, guidance can help.

Therapy can help you:

  • See things in a new way.

  • Address issues or situations in a way that’s better for you.

  • Feel supported as you make changes.

  • Learn about yourself and be more comfortable with who you are.

The goal is to help you grow. Everyone has problems and challenges. Therapy can help you address them with more success.

Among other things, Amy helps people with:

Depression

Anxiety

Transition and Adjustment

Anger

Self-Esteem

College Readiness

Social Issues

Relationships

Work Issues

Stress

Eating Disorders

LGBTQ Concerns

Asperger’s Syndrome

ADHD

Executive Functioning Issues

Learning Disabilities

OCD

504/IEP Advocacy Issues

School Issues

In addition, you can work with Amy on issues that are specific, general, or both. Your goals will set the stage for progress.

  • You can get help to address a specific problem or challenge such as a life change, relationship issue, or problem at school. You’ll focus on solutions.

  • You can also get help to feel better about yourself or your life in general. You and Amy can take a journey of discovery.

Often, both types of issues are addressed together.

PROCESS

Amy offers a relaxed, nonjudgmental environment where you can develop rapport and set the stage for progress.

You will begin by discussing your goal. Together you’ll gain clarity around the issue or challenge while establishing a collaborative connection.

Amy uses an eclectic approach, most often a combination of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic Theory. Amy will provide thoughts and suggestions to guide the process. Ultimately, how she helps depends on your goal.

In addition, she is a wealth of knowledge regarding local and national resources and organizations as well as books, particularly on anxiety for kids and parents. She can provide recommendations based on your needs.

PRAISE FOR AMY SILVER

"Amy is warm, funny, kind and extremely intelligent, and she has been a huge help to me in managing my debilitating anxiety and panic attacks.

Through her empathy and examples, she has taught me how to use various tools and strategies to decrease the occurrence of panic and high anxiety.

From solving problems to becoming a better parent to gaining confidence in my everyday life, Amy has been crucial in helping me meet my goals and lead a happier, more fulfilling life.

I look forward to my sessions with Amy, and my only regret is I didn’t start seeing her sooner."

— J.C.

"'Thank God for Amy,' was a comment I recently heard from a friend of mine, to whom I had recommended Amy when her daughter needed some help.  I couldn’t agree more.

Amy began working with my daughter through a rough patch in high school.  Her accessible, open manner put my daughter at ease immediately. Amy helped my daughter work through the negative narratives she had internalized and really helped her find herself again.  Equally important, she helped her articulate the tools she needs to succeed going forward.

Amy is easy to work with, nurturing, but firm, and her wealth of experience and sense of humor are a wonderful asset for both adults and children.

I recommend Amy highly.  She’s a wonderful therapist."
